Temperature in the Sun’s Atmosphere
  • The sun’s atmosphere corona is much hotter than its visible surface Photosphere.
  • Normally, the layer closest to a source of heat, the Sun’s surface, in this case, would have a higher temperature than the more distant atmosphere.
  • But the reason for the high temperature is the constant eruption of tiny solar flares in the solar atmosphere.
  • The solar flares produce hard X-rays, whose wavelengths are much shorter than the light humans can see and it is a signature of extremely hot solar material.
Gini Coefficient
  • Gini Coefficient is a statistical measure to gauge the inequality of income or wealth within nations or states.
  • Its value varies from zero to 1; zero indicating perfect equality and one indicating the perfect inequality.
  • A general rise in the measure indicates that government policies are not inclusive and may be benefiting the rich as much as the poor.
  • It can be used to compare income distribution of a country over time as well.
Nanocapsules as drug carriers
  • Scientists have developed Nanocapsules that are bio-degradable and capable of delivering a potent drug into a tumour.
  • Nanomedicine involves the use of nanoscale materials for diagnosis, delivery, sensing or actuation purposes on living organisms.
  • It helps in efficient management of various infectious and tumour diseases, where immunity-stimulation is a leading factor for the treatment.
Amrabad Tiger Reserve
  • Telangana Forest department has created a new ecotourism spot “Octopus View Point” at Amrabad Tiger Reserve.
  • Amrabad Tiger Reserve in the districts of Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda, is the largest tiger reserve in the country.
  • Earlier, it was part of 'Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger reserve'.
  • But post-bifurcation, the northern part of the reserve is vested with Telangana state and renamed as 'Amrabad Tiger Reserve'.
  • The multipurpose reservoirs Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar  are located in the reserve.
State Climate Change Policy
  • The state cabinet has given its approval to the state’s climate change adaptation policy.
  • The policy focuses on developing the environment friendly villages and cities in the state.
  • There will be a separate cell to oversee the implementation of the policy.
  • Centre had asked the states to prepare the state action plan on the climate change after the national action plan on climate change was made public in 2008.
  • The state government had given the task of preparing the action plan to The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
  • The action plan focuses on the health issues, mangrove conservation and providing basic infrastructure for the fishing business.
